Tax Digitization at PT. Jasa Marga (Persero) TBK
Jakarta, July 1, 2021 – Telkompajakku, a business unit of TelkomMetra, is expanding its digital tax infrastructure to the toll road management industry after being officially appointed as the provider of a tax data integration application for PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk effective June 9, 2021. Telkompajakku will assist PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk in providing host-to-host tax data integration services for Value-Added Tax (VAT) and Income Tax (PPh) reporting. This service encompasses the full digitization of tax processes, making the tax system more practical and user-friendly.
“This tax digitalization enables data automation for Jasa Marga’s toll road tax ecosystem, so that the entire tax process—from calculation to payment and reporting—can be carried out quickly, transparently, and accurately. “This service represents Telkompajakku’s contribution to supporting Jasa Marga’s tax compliance process,” said Niam Dzikri, CEO of TelkomMetra.
The collaboration between Telkompajakku and Jasa Marga began with a Kick-Off Meeting last Friday (June 11), which discussed the provision of information regarding the readiness of taxpayers’ ERP systems, infrastructure, and other technical and administrative preparations.
This digitization will assist PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk in procuring a tax data integration system application, which is scheduled to be operational starting August 9, 2021. This system is also already integrated with several national banks and other tax collection agencies designated by the Directorate General of Treasury of the Ministry of Finance to provide tax payment services.
As of December 2020, PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk reported toll revenue of Rp 8.76 trillion, with an average of 3.4 million daily transactions at toll gates. This figure excludes other revenue streams, such as income from other business operations and construction revenue.
PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk is the largest toll road operator in Indonesia, holding a 67% market share in terms of the length of toll roads in commercial operation, and operates 33 toll road concessions with a total length of 1,527 km.
Looking solely at the number of toll road users heading to Jakarta, the average daily traffic (ADT) of vehicles up until mid-June 2020 reached 100,400 vehicles. This data was recorded during a one-week period of the “new normal” and PSBB restrictions in Jakarta from June 8–14, 2020.
As the period of restrictions on homecoming travel drew to a close, a total of 427,309 vehicles returned to the Greater Jakarta area. PT Jasa Marga Tbk also revealed that the average daily traffic during the Ramadan period from April 12–18, 2021, decreased by 7.5% compared to normal traffic levels during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On April 15, Telkompajakku was also appointed to assist the state-owned holding company in the fertilizer sector, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) Group, in implementing tax digitization, specifically the Host-to-Host VAT e-Invoice and Advance Income Tax e-Return (eSPT Advance PPh) services.
These two services will streamline tax processes and reduce tax compliance costs for the PT Pupuk Indonesia Group, which comprises five subsidiaries, including PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, PT Pupuk Kujang, PT Petrokimia Gresik, PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda, and PT Pupuk Sriwijaya Palembang.
These six fertilizer companies have been using the Telkompajakku digital tax system since May 2021. This service improves efficiency in terms of usage, time, and resources, including tax processes.
According to the minutes of the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) for the 2019 fiscal year, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) paid tax contributions totaling Rp7.28 trillion to the state, up from Rp5.48 trillion the previous year. Based on data from the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP), in the third quarter of 2020, PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) recorded a tax contribution of Rp4.3 trillion.
