An internship at a public relations agency is certainly no easy feat, but the insights you gain are undeniable. One of the benefits of working at a PR agency is that you’ll always have opportunities to hone your critical and creative thinking skills. This isn’t limited to just one company—you’ll have the chance to work with a variety of different companies.
Even though I was a public relations intern at Media Buffet PR, I was still given the opportunity to explore myself. This is what I gained when I decided to become a public relations intern at one of Jakarta’s PR agencies, Media Buffet PR—known for its batik logo and Bima Marzuki, a top influencer in the field of public relations according to LinkedIn.

During my internship at Media Buffet, communication was key in a job that always prioritizes teamwork. It didn’t matter if you were a senior staff member or an intern—everyone’s opinions were welcomed. In fact, it wasn’t uncommon for my opinions to be used as references in my seniors’ articles. This certainly helped boost my confidence.
Well, there’s usually a Senior Consultant at Media Buffet PR who often gives us interns the chance to offer a second opinion—someone I often call “Mba Lia.”
The tasks assigned to interns are always varied. And we’re always offered the chance to take on more responsibility. Usually, we draft proposals directly with the lead, but we can also take it to the next level by completing the draft on our own, with the senior staff simply reviewing it afterward. This challenge first came from Media Buffet PR Consultant Chiki, whom I often call “Mba Chiki.” I was hesitant at first, but her trust completely dispelled all my doubts. Wow, but it’s true. In the end, everything turned out great.
Actually, this overlaps with various communication strategy activities, but at the time, I felt like I was just getting started with press releases—without any specific event tied to them. This is something I’ve only recently learned at Media Buffet PR. It’s not easy to weave together all the ideas in my head from a series of events. Well, one of the key takeaways was that momentum is crucial for that type of press release. I first heard this tip during a casual afternoon chat with Media Buffet PR’s Senior Associate, Sinka—whom I often call “Mba Sinka.”
When you’re given the opportunity to explore yourself, don’t think twice. Because this is the right choice for you to discover what hidden talents you developed during college that you can explore—at a company that gives you the space to grow. And, of course, it broadens your horizons. Right? So, are you interested in working at an agency?
